Today, I want to shout out to Zen Pencils, aka Gavin Aung Than. Than is a freelance cartoonist based in Melbourne, Australia. After working in the corporate graphic design industry for 8 years he quit his unfulfilling job at the end of 2011 to focus on his true passion, drawing cartoons. Gavin launched Zen Pencils at the start of 2012, a cartoon blog which adapts inspirational quotes into comic stories, and hasn’t looked back since. Than has featured inspirational quotes from leaders like Carl Sagan, Malala Yousafzai, Ira Glass, CS Lewis and many others. His work is remarkable, and he offers free images as well as the opportunity to buy posters.
I am somehow always in awe of the ways cartoons can make leadership concepts so clear, funny and touching! Check out the joy in this cartoon about Theodore Roosevelt’s call for action by leaders. If this doesn’t jolt a few leader-wanna be couch potatoes out of their chair, I don’t know what will! And please, visit his site to find out more.
