Justice, Finally?
At the end of last month, ten people were sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the 2012 attack on Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist Malala Yousafzai, a judge announced Thursday. Pakistani antiterrorism judge Mohammad Amin Kundi said they could be eligible for release in 25 years.
It is ironic that the failure of the assassination attempt led to her expanded world leadership role as an icon for girls and young women everywhere, not just in Pakistan. The news of the sentencing is international, and widely spread in many media, including the fashion magazine Marie Claire, which has featured news about Yousafzai since the shooting, and focuses on politics as well as the latest make-up trends.
